Update From Catherine.

Hey everybody,

Boy has it been a big year so far!

I am currently on tour with Beccy Cole and Lyn Bowtell and I can’t remember the last time I had THIS much fun on the road. I’m usually out on tour with a bunch of stinky boys so being out and doing girlie stuff like shopping, nails, gossiping and laughing our heads off everyday is a really nice change. But the boys in the band are great! Beccy is such a beautiful person and the more I get to know her the more I fall in love with her as a friend. She gives it her all EVERY night and NEVER disappoints the crowd, no matter the size.

I am still doing my radio show every Tuesday Night 8-9pm on 2NUR FM in Newcastle with my Dad and we still love doing it after more than a year together. It’s energetic, silly, fun and just all round good music and nothing but our inner music nerds coming out. So come and check it out sometime at http://www.newcastle.edu.au/service/2nur/audio/listen.mov

And while on my other ‘career’ in the media – I am still hosting the wonderful Alt Country program every Sunday night, 7-10pm, on CMC so tune in every week and see some bloody good music and my ugly mug talking about my favourite stuff.

In February I went over to Memphis Tennessee to attend the Folk Alliance Conference and it was a mind blowing experience. The music I heard and the people I got to meet, many of whom came to see my showcase, just changed my life forever.

I also played CMC Rocks The Hunter this year and headlined Saturday night with the very lovely Dierks Bentley. And it also coincided with me hosting the CMC Awards and performing one James Blundell’s as he was inducted into the CMC Hall of Fame. It was such a blessing to be a part of it all. In March I was privileged to be asked to co-host the 7th Australian Music Prize Awards with Dan Rosen who is the CEO of PPCA and to which I am a Ambassador. It was such a fun day and I got to hear David Fricke from US Rolling Stone talk as the key note speaker. It was a brilliant speech and The Jezabel’s who won this years prize are just as brilliant.

And lastly but not least the new album. Well it’s done and dusted. It was recorded in Austin, Texas (singer/songwriter capital of the world!) with my co-producer Bill Chambers in about 4 days with some fabulous and gifted musicians. I have a couple of duet’s on the album with two of my most favourite people in the music world and I cant wait to share them with you. So for now it’s about single choices, video and photo shoots. But I do love it and I hope you do as well. The 1st single will hit radio and TV in late May or early June with the album to be released in the first week of August.

Well I hope your year is rocking along too and I hope to see you all out on the road somewhere soon!!
Peace and Love!
Catherine x
