Catherine Joins CMAA Show in Newcastle

The Country Music Association of Australia (CMAA) is coming to Lizottes Newcastle on Wednesday August 10 for an Intimate Evening of Australian Country to raise money for the CMAA and its various initiatives.

The fundraising evening will feature the finest acts that Australian country music has to offer, including ARIA nominated and multi Golden Guitar winner Adam Harvey who will perform a selection of his greatest hits and Catherine Britt who is riding high of the success of her 2010 ARIA and 2011 APRA Award nominated album, the critically acclaimed self titled ‘Catherine Britt’.

“An Intimate Evening of Australian Country is a great opportunity to show off some fantastic talent that the Australian country music industry has to offer,” said Marius Els, Board Member for the CMAA.

The night will also feature performances from up and coming country musicians, The Apprentices, featuring Georgia White, Hannah Smith, Kaylah Anne and Makaylie Foodey, who will wow audiences as they perform their solo singles from the Apprentices album.

“We are expecting a big turnout for this event, so we encourage country music fans to scoop up the opportunity to see Adam, The Apprentices and a additional special guest artist soon to be announced who are all performing live at Lizotte’s,” added Marius.

Along with intimate performances the evening will also feature a live auction with a unique range of items on offer, including signed country memorabilia and backyard performances from some of the industry’s leading musicians.

The night’s proceeds will go towards funding new initiatives and ongoing programs for the CMAA.

Catherine To Appear At The 2011 Optus Gympie Music Muster

Confirmed today is that Catherine will appear at the 2011 Optus Gympie Music Muster.

The line-up of national and international talent pays tribute to the history and heritage and covers a wide range of styles providing something for everyone when presented in the AMAMOOR CREEK STATE FOREST from TUESDAY 23rd AUGUST to SUNDAY 28th AUGUST 2011.

With over forty acts previously announced in May, ticket sales to the event continue strongly, with the 2011 delivery potentially attracting the largest ever Optus Gympie Music Muster crowd, to share the 30th birthday celebrations. Catherine To Take Part In The 5th Annual Harvey Norman Women in League Round.

The fifth annual Harvey Norman Women in League Round – Round 16 of the Telstra Premiership – runs from June 24 – 27 and pays tribute to the tens of thousands of women who contribute to the game at all levels. And Catherine will perform at the Domayne Women in League Ladies Luncheon on Sunday June 26th and also sing the national anthem before the Newcastle Knights take on the Sydney Roosters in Newcastle.

The Harvey Norman Women in League Round is a celebration of the role women play in Rugby League and also a chance for the game to say thank you to the many women who help build the foundations of the sport.

Women play significant and diverse roles in our game, from mums and grandmothers on the sidelines to coaches and players, volunteers, referees and support staff.

Catherine to Take Part In The 2011 Queensland Music Festival

The Queensland Music Festival unites four enormous talents from Australian country music with Queensland’s leading chamber orchestra for two very special free concerts.

Dubbed Classic Country, the performance features an all-star line-up – Catherine Britt, Melinda Schneider, Graeme Connors and Adam Harvey– who will perform a stunning collection of world premiere arrangements of country music hits with the 16 piece Camerata of St John’s orchestra.

Queensland Music Festival Artistic Director Deborah Conway said event will be remembered for a long time to come. “This is guaranteed to be one of the biggest events ever to be staged in Moranbah. With 20 world class musicians on stage performing spectacular arrangements this is a show you won’t want to miss,” Ms Conway said.

As part of the Queensland Music Festivals community outreach, Camerata of St Johns, under the leadership of Brendan Joyce will undertake string workshops with local schools which Cr Marshall says will be of immense benefit to young people in our region.

The Classic Country performance will also feature pre-concert entertainment with a line-up of local performers and community food stalls.

Queensland Music Festival is a biennial celebration of musical excellence. Working with communities throughout the state, QMF has a vision to transform lives through unforgettable musical experiences.

Catherine to Take Part In Dueting It For The Kids

Dueting it for the Kids is a unique concert unlike anything else staged in Australia. This event brings together the cream of the recording and concert industry – both legends and newcomers – in a concert of duets with proceeds going to The Australian Children’s Music Foundation (ACMF).

The concert is being held at the State Theatre on Monday 22nd August. The line-up is phenomenal with performances from artists including Marina Prior, John Waters, Caroline O’Connor, Jessica Mauboy, Lee Kernaghan, Antoinette Halloran, Catherine Britt, Danielle Spencer, Dave Faulkner, Debra Byrne, Doug Parkinson, Leo Sayer, Murray Cook, Peter Northcote, Ross Wilson, Steve Balbi, Don Spencer, Steve Kilbey, Tim Freedman, Wendy Matthews, Glenn Shorrock and more to be announced.

The MC’s for this extravaganza will be Adam Spencer and James Valentine from 702 ABC Sydney.
All funds raised at this event go towards music programs that the ACMF run for disadvantaged and Indigenous youth across Australia. The Foundation was established in 2002 by Don Spencer OAM in response to the fact that over 75% of public schools in Australia no longer have a specialty music teacher.

“Each week, our incredible teachers provide music education for children who, in many cases, have suffered severe physical and emotional abuse almost impossible to comprehend. Through music we bring joy, enhance imagination and creativity and give these children the chance to dream”.
